Tailor Brands Review: Is It Worth the Money? [2024 Update]

Alexandros Melidoniotis Written by: Alexandros Melidoniotis

Tailor Brands is a solid choice if you want the full package (think domain name, social media marketing, business cards, and branded merchandise). Its logo generator is easy to use and it gets the job done. If all you really want is a logo, it is on the more expensive side – but stay with me, and I’ll explain why it’s still worth trying out.

Or, if you’re looking for help launching a new business, have a look at our review of Tailor Brands’ LLC formation services.

Tailor Brands is perhaps best known as the startup that raised millions of dollars to invest in its AI-based logo generator. But can it help you create a unique logo for your brand or website?

Tailor Brands’ logo generator might not offer the most advanced customization options, but it sure is easy to use. The pricing is odd, considering it’s a subscription-based service, and, honestly, I’m not a fan of the way Tailor Brands implemented that.

But if you’re looking to do more than just create a logo and don’t mind the price tag, Tailor Brands might be the right solution for you.

If you’re looking for help registering a business – or help with permits, trademarks, tax filing, or business documents – have a look at our review of Tailor Brands’ LLC formation services.

The service is available in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Dutch. The languages and alphabets you can use in the actual logos are limited to the Roman alphabet. Special characters, emojis, and Mandarin (I tested it) don’t work.

Aside from logo generation, Tailor Brands also provides AI-driven website design, social media marketing tools, and some print work so you can put your logo on products like business cards and shirts.

Aside from Tailor Brands, I tested over a dozen logo design services to find out who could deliver the best new logo for Website Planet. Click here to read all about my quest to find the perfect logo and find out who won.

Features

Tailor Brands Has the Basics, Plus Some Interesting Features

Tailor Brands - Choose your logo type landing page
Your logo can be either icon-based, name-based, or initial-based

Tailor Brands’ logo maker uses robust AI technology to deliver unique logos. Unlike most competitors, its AI wizard is great at determining what you’re after. It asks many brand-relevant questions and lets you choose between an icon, name, or initial-based logo.

The AI wizard generates a few logo options at a time but can keep generating more. That said, I found that the more designs I generated, the less they looked like the styles I originally picked. Fortunately, there’s an extensive library of icons, a decent typeface library, and completed logos come in both JPG and PNG formats.

The customization options are good overall, but fonts are restricted based on your previous selections during setup. You can also no longer drag and drop elements wherever you want, which is a bit disappointing.

Other people in your industry might end up with similar designs, but Tailor Brands delivers unique results compared to the competition.

Create an Abstract Shape for Your Logo

Tailor Brands logo designer
The available abstract shapes can help you create a truly unique logo

If you really want to make sure your logo doesn’t look like anyone else’s, you can choose (at the beginning of the logo-generation process) to create an abstract shape to use as your logo icon.

These abstract shapes probably won’t look like any sort of recognizable object or symbol, but that might be exactly what you want. There are about 20 shapes in total, and you can pick up to 5 to generate ideas from. Note that the tool doesn’t really blend the shapes you’ve selected – it just shows more results.

In any case, if you choose an abstract shape, your logo should look fairly different from most others.

Business Cards and Merchandise

Good news if you want your logo printed on business cards, t-shirts, or just about anything else, Tailor Brands has a partnership with Zazzle, a service that specializes in printing whatever you want on pretty much anything. You can order your merchandise without even having to visit another site.

Integration with Social Media Tools

Tailor Brands has some social marketing tools in its list of products, so you can go from designing your logo to spreading it all over social media in a matter of minutes.

It also has an automatic resizing tool that will quickly resize your logo to fit the ideal image size for various social networks. Even if you don’t have a social media strategy yet, these features could help you get started.

Seasonal Logo Generator

Example Website Planet logos created by Tailor Brands
These seasonal logos don’t look great, but they’re not terrible, either

This one might seem a bit odd at first, but hear me out: You know how companies sometimes have a different version of their logo for different seasons or popular holidays? They might throw on a Santa hat, or add some turkey feathers.

Well, this tool basically does… that. It helps your logo embrace the spirit of the holidays. The logos are automatically added to your brand profile as various holidays approach. I checked out the ones we got for the 4th of July, and “Video Game Day,” and they uh… Well, let’s just say both could have been better. At the very least they could have used the same typeface as the original logo. But still, the feature is there and has some use.

Ease of use

Designing Your Logo With Tailor Brands Is Easy Enough

It truly is. There are instructions for everything and tooltips everywhere. I created my account, generated my logo, and customized it to my satisfaction – all in under 30 minutes. What this software lacks in more advanced graphic design features, it makes up for by being very straightforward to use.

Plus, it has many features that make things even easier.

My Experience With Tailor Brands

Website Planet logo created with Tailor Brands
Here’s the result of my logo-generating journey with Tailor Brands.

I’m on a quest to try out all the most popular logo design services. The best logo will be our new official logo for Website Planet. It probably won’t be the one I made for this review, though.

As mentioned in the video above, I’ve used Tailor Brands before to research other articles I’ve written here on Website Planet. It’s always been the same: follow the wizard, make my style choices, pick a logo, and see what the editor can do.

Despite my disappointment that you can’t make your own color palettes, I still think this is a great DIY logo maker. Tailor Brands makes a good logo, and I’ve been impressed both by the user-friendly interface and the variety of customization options.

This time, we bought one of the logos on the cheapest monthly subscription plan. I am happy to report that you can make some changes after purchase. Specifically, you can edit the layout, color palette, and tagline. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s better than when you couldn’t make any changes at all.

You Can Save All Your Logo Designs

Tailor Brands logo designer
The tool is easy to use, even if it’s missing certain features.

With Tailor Brands, every logo you design gets saved so you can come back later, even if you haven’t paid for it yet. In another review, I said that I’d include a section for this feature for every product that has it, and I meant it – being able to save all your designs isn’t just good, it’s essential.

You Can Access Your “Seen Brands”

“Seen Brands” are just that: brands you’ve seen at some point in the logo design process. It means that as you generate logo options, and edit your logo before payment, all of your major design iterations get saved, and you can easily go find them again. So, if you decide that you actually like that logo design you made five versions ago, hooray, it’s still there.

There’s a Handy Tailor Brands Mobile App

Want to design your logo on the go? Tailor Brands has a mobile app available for Android devices.

The logo generator and customizer are both fairly intuitive. The generator has very specific instructions, after all. You’ll have to answer around ten questions, and they’re all multiple choice (except for when you type some basic info about your business, and when you manually search for icons in the database).

The logo editor is simple, mostly self-explanatory, and easy to use if you click around for a bit.

Support

Tailor Brands’ Support Options Are Limited

Tailor Brands Review - Support
You can get answers to most questions simply by using the search function.

Tailor Brands’ customer service is mostly functional, but it’s certainly not outstanding.

Email support, live chat, a blog, and a knowledge base/help center — those are your options. The knowledge base is very beginner-oriented, which is good, but it could probably use a few more visual aids.

The blog is pretty extensive, offering over 250 articles under the categories of logo design, business, and branding. There are also a couple of articles dedicated to the basics of logo design, but sadly, there’s no search feature.

You’ll spot the “help” chat button in the bottom right corner of the screen. Once you click it, a friendly bot pops up to “assist” you by guiding you back to the knowledge base for answers. As for the “Get in touch” button, it doesn’t actually connect you with a real human – it’s just an alternative way to reach the support team via email.

When it did load for me, sadly, no one was online to actually chat with me. The little chat window offered me the option to send an email instead, or to browse popular help articles.

Tailor Brands Email Support

Tailor Brands support
Despite what Daniel said, I was never able to use the live chat function

I used only email for support, and that was the way I connected with their customer service. They typically replied within 24 hours, but they often responded faster than that. I got the first two replies within 1-3 hours, while the third reply came around 9 hours later. It’s worth mentioning that the support agent couldn’t give me details about when staff would be available.

Pricing

Is Tailor Brands an Affordable Logo Designer?

Tailore Brands sample button
Click the “Sample” button to download a sample logo or see what it would look like on merchandise

Tailor Brands has adopted a subscription model for selling its software, which isn’t such a bad idea in theory. After all, the more expensive plans give you ongoing access to things like social media tools, basic print design tools for business cards and stationery, and the ability to upload your own images.

The downside is that, as far as I can tell, you need a separate subscription for every logo you pay for. Oh, and the per-month price goes up by a lot if you pay only for one month at a time.

If you do want to pay, though, you’ve got options: Visa, American Express, MasterCard, Diners Club, JCB (Japan Credit Bureau), Discover, and PayPal.

You can get a free sample logo (or preview how it’ll look on devices, merchandise, etc) by clicking on the “Sample” button, but it’s low-quality — nothing usable, really.

On the upside, even the cheapest plans allow for commercial use. And if you pay for the whole year, and if you actually use Tailor Brands’ ongoing services… it is pretty cheap.

Now, if you want to use Tailor Brands to run your whole online presence and marketing, it might very well be worth it. That sort of integration between marketing tools and design tools could make your life a lot easier, especially if you’re new to web design and online marketing. Just be very, very sure that you like your logo — there are no refunds.

Finally, please note that Tailor Brands will make attempts to upsell you on various occasions. Even if you are solely interested in obtaining a logo, you might still need to decline additional offers like a domain name or professional site template during the payment process.

I can’t blame companies for trying to upsell, but Tailor Brands should at least try to space it out a bit.

Usage Rights

You get all the usage rights to your logo, with no restrictions, even on the Basic plan. Even if you cancel your membership, you retain the rights to all logos you’ve designed. However, you’ll be unable to download them again, so make sure you keep local copies on hand if you’re going to cancel that plan.

Tailor Brands REVIEW: BOTTOM LINE

Tailor Brands has a logo maker, yes, and one that’s very easy to use, but it wants to be your everything (at least online). With professional printing services, social media marketing, an abstract icon generator, and a pretty handy mobile app, Tailor Brands delivers in many areas.

If you’re in the market for very simple marketing and website services, as well as a logo, Tailor Brands may well be worth it. It’s not the cheapest option out there, and its customer support has some flaws, but if you want a little more than the competition, take a look at the Basic plan.

Close Tailor Brands are scammers!!!

Close Tailor Brands are scammers!!! People complain a lot. They are deceiving everyone. Give me my money back ASAP, $649!!!! I did not receive any professional assistance in creating an LLC, determining the taxpayer number and agent address. Or I’ll start everywhere, on all platforms: Tax, YouTube, social networks, Truspilot..., I’ll write a lot of negative reviews: You make websites, you sell websites and domains and nothing more. Ingredient proceeds include: LLC Registered Agent, US EIN, Elite LLC Plan, LLC State Fee. And the person himself must fill out the documents, look for them at the tax office himself, send them himself, make the TIN himself. This can be done by a non-resident. Why the hell are you needed then? You are scammers. You're not helping. Give me my money back ASAP!!!!

No Customer Service and explanation of exactly what the renewal is.

I've been bombarded with emails telling that I need to renew. Which is $227.99. I'm okay with that but you need to tell me what I'm paying this for. What is to the government and what is to Tailor brands. They give you vague responses or just copy and paste. When you follow up with the email you get no response back for days.

Take the time to do it yourself, you will save time and money if you do. Forget getting any refunds for their poor service. Stay Away!

TailorBrands is a horrible company when it comes to customer service. Did you get paid for your flowers and sunshine review of Tailorbrands or is that an affiliate link? You clearly have not had a customer service experience with them. I hired them to set up to register a business for me and they happily took money of $299. I paid for the expedited process and then after two weeks of not hearing from Tailorbrands, I began to ask what was going on. I was told oh, "It's in process" on several calls and emails. After two more weeks, I broke down and called the state to find out what the problem was. The state had actually denied my application before I ever called Tailorbrands the first time to find out what the hold-up was. I ended up spending several hours writing emails, waiting on hold, speaking with representatives, being told someone would call me back, and when they did call me back they said that someone else was looking into the matter for me and would call me... I never received a call-back explanation, it was always pass the hot potato. Now that I had called the state and found out my name was too close to my previous business name I knew why there was a hold up. It took them a while to figure it out and it wasn't until I started asking for a refund did they bother to come up with an excuse to state some policy that they cannot give me my money back. No one in their customer service department has any authority to work with the customers, and their managers must have been instructed to not work with the customers and to delay or pass off any responsibility to billing which has no number per the managers. The real kicker for me was when I was told "I want to make sure that your concern is taken care of, so I've sent your email to our relevant team for a closer look and they'll be in touch with you soon to help you out." What the Heck-Fire is a "Relevant Team"? Let that sink in. If your business set up has any complications getting set up, Good Luck, and kiss your money goodbye. Go to their Trustpilot reviews at the time that I wrote this in 12/23 they had 25% of their reviews a “1”. It’s understandable to have a few hiccups here and there when you are doing volume business but 25%…? I wish I had done a little more research into them. Read the negative reviews in almost all of them Tailor Brands will not give you your money back after there is a problem and you request a refund. I understand they are giving money to states for filing fees but they could at least split the difference with you and give an explanation, but they do not even do that. I have spent hours calling them back, writing emails, and talking to my bank. Do the filing yourself which I could have done and only did with them to save time. If I had just done it myself I would have saved all the time I have wasted on customer No Service trying to get a refund. OR hire an attorney or accountant that sets businesses up and you will be much happier that you dealt with a professional service.

the review is paid. Not worth at all.

not customization at all. I am pretty sure Canvas can do a better job just AUD17.99 a month rather than 59 a year. If you want more, update and pay more is the only option. this is review is definitely paid. I paid the first year to have a logo and am been charged for the second year for nothing. The only thing I can do is download the logo file. I think I need to know what font is been used at lease. Very poor.

Cannot comprehend the good review – my experience with Tailor Brands is rather poor

Well, Logos look quite good, but options to customize them are poor. In my case I needed a third text line in the Logo - not possible. The overall package they offer is comprehensive and looks like good value. So if you find a Logo that fits well, might be worth it. However, other here poorly rated websites offer much better customization than Tailor Brands.

Bad, bad bad…

A client needed a quick, cheap logo and business cards. Two days after the order was placed I got an email from them saying the cards were in transit. A week later I tracked it in FedEx and turns out FedEx was still awaiting the packg to be dropped off. It took me 3 days of back n forth emails to find out that no one knows what happened to the cards and now they're being reprinted. I am so livid and so is my client....bad communication, no followthru to ensure shipment was sent, slow customer svc turnaround. I would not recommend them.

Good luck with trying to get a refund

Thieves plain and simple. Do not use. Trying to cancel brings you in an infinite loop that brings you exactly where you started. Review ended but I need to put 200 characters so.... The FitnessGram™ Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly, but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal.

They stole my money, I chose a basic plan and they charged me for the premium one, which was 35 euros almost 5 times the basic plan. Beware don't use the service. They are now not replying to me anymore, I can't get my money back also. I am not sure what to do now
